A Fight Between Batman and Superman
Although everyone s instinct is to say Superman could crush Batman to a pulp in two seconds flat, this subject was already touched upon in the Justice League of America comic books. It was in a multi-part story called “The Tower of Babel” published by DC Comics in JLA #43-46.
It is true that Batman rolls with some pretty powerful folks, and that he is the only regular human member of the Justice League. He is also one of the greatest problem solvers and detectives in comics. Batman is a realist and knows he has no hope of defeating any of these heroes one-on-one if he had to. Because he knows this, it is revealed in “The Tower of Babel”, that he has a database of defeat strategies on the computer system in the Batcave. This info is a back-up plan to be used in case any of his super powered friends should ever turn evil and Batman has to try and take them down.
Unfortunately for the Justice League, Batman villain Ra s Al Ghul hacks into the system and gets this info. He then uses this info to defeat the Justice League single handedly and take over their satellite headquarters.
He defeats them by:
Green Lantern - given a hypnotic suggestion causing him to believe he has gone blind.
Martian Manhunter – infected with mini machines (nanites) in his skin that release magnesium, causing him to bust into flames (his weakness) when exposed to oxygen.
Wonder Woman – Plunged into a virtual reality where she believes her powers have failed her and she has been shot.
The Flash – Shot in the spine with a bullet that vibrates while lodged in his spinal cord, causing epileptic seizures and left unable to use his super speed.
Aquaman – exposed to the fear toxin used by bat-villain Scarecrow to give him a fear of water. The longer he stays out of water the weaker he gets.
Plastic Man – Frozen and shattered.
Superman – Exposed to a synthetic Kryptonite which makes his powers go haywire and causes him to nearly explode.
When the league discovers that Ra s got the info from hacking Batman s computer system they are furious. The entire gang confronts him and tells him he is no longer welcome in the Justice League. Batman tries to make up for his mistakes by offering to take down Ghul and fix everything, as well as return the satellite to the JLA. The team refuses to let Batman help, saying they no longer want him involved in any of their business.
After that Batman wallops Ra s Al Ghul anyway. It s safe to say that since Ra s Al Ghul defeated them all including Superman, and Batman beat him, that Batman in turn could beat them all, including Superman. Plus since they were his plans to begin with, and they did work, he could have taken the entire Justice League down any time he wanted to. Including Superman.
A few months later the Justice league agrees that he made the battle plans for the right reasons and they allow him to re-join the team.
As if they had a choice.
